| It was in 1956, when the first steps have been done to the technological development of fabric structure applications. Early radomes and rapid deployment command shelters for the military led to commercial applications in bulk storage and removable sports facility covers.
In 1957, company was founded by Walter Bird.
In 1973, first PTFE (Teflon ® coated Fiberglass) permanent tensioned membrane structure was created by Birdair Inc. at the University of La Verne, California. The beginning of tensioned membrane structures as a permanent building solution.
Since then, Birdair along has constructed over 750 structures on every continent: from dynamic sports venues to security-conscious transportation facilities, from festive entertainment and retail centers to attractive healthcare facilities and museums. From simple to complex designs, the Taiyo/Birdair Group has a unique expertise and experience to professionally fabricate and install tensile membrane structures.
